Viking Helmet With Scales
2024
I've done almost no metal art since 2012 because I've been making music but this was something I started over 20 years ago. Now in my 70's with arthritis, I decided to finish it and it's taken longer than imagined. Lots of metal cutting, punching, hammering, sewing, riveting and wrist pain. But it's finally done.
The nasal section is made of 18 Ga. Brass, the scales 20 Ga. Brass, the outer band is made of heavy Copper and the conical steel dome is made of an old headlight housing from a 1930's car. A simple repousse Thor's hammer added to the nasal to balance to the design. It's not an accurate representation of a real Viking helmet. It's just a way to show respect and pride for my Mom's Nordic side of the family, Anderson / Andersen, from Denmark.
This helmet is designed as an artistic expression for display only. I wouldn't recommend using it for protection in battle! $700. Free shipping in USA.
